After finishing my studies, I wanted to travel before starting my job—doing something completely different from my field while making a real impact. Since my husband is from Peru, I saw this as a chance to explore his culture, improve my Spanish, and fulfill my dream of experiencing the jungle. Spending a month at Volungo Abroad’s Animal Shelter was the perfect choice. I built enclosures, fed monkeys, walked through the jungle collecting food for capybaras, and immersed myself in the simple but warm community life of the village. Initially, I was afraid to travel alone, but I discovered that kindness exists everywhere, and I’ll never truly be alone—because, at our core, we are all the same.
